Gretchen Rubin is a NY Times best-selling author whose books (The Happiness Project, Better Than Before and The Four Tendencies) combine to offer practical applications for work and home on how to succeed at habit change. By learning our own/others’ “tendencies” we can choose the best strategies to increase the likelihood that we will be able to sustain our good habits–and decrease our bad ones. In addition, knowing our own and others’ tendencies can guide us in approaching others with suggestions that will not only be better received, but may motivate healthy change (instead of the usual reminding, nagging, or bossing.) This enhances our ability to communicate, problem-solve and use the gifts God has given us to bless others and ourselves.
Vicki Jansma is a school social worker, speaker and music minister who loves to share her God-given gifts. Helping students grow in healthy habits of mind/body/spirit and sharing wisdom through song or word with adults are her passions (in addition of course to being Nana to 2 grandchildren.) She especially looks for opportunities to help others find and use new insights on our journey toward becoming all God intends us to be. As one of her favorite authors said “When we know better, we do better” (Dr.Maya Angelou).
This presentation is part of the 55 Plus Series, exploring spirituality and vitality in the second half of life.
