They were known simply as “The Lost Boys.” Orphaned by the brutal Civil war in Sudan that began in 1983, these young victims traveled as many as a thousand miles on foot in search of safety. Fifteen years later, a humanitarian effort would bring 3600 lost boys and girls to America. “The Good Lie,” brings the story of their survival and triumph to life. Starring Sudanese actors Arnold Oceng, and Ger Duany, and Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon. CFD: evangelization
This movie viewing is one of the many learning opportunities the CIC will be offering throughout the year in support of Pope Francis’ global campaign called “Share the Journey”. The campaign’s focus is to raise awareness and show support for immigrants and refugees, who are forced to flee their homes to escape conflict, poverty, persecution and violence. The Pope is encouraging Catholics to learn more about our refugee brothers and sisters, their stories and their journeys, so that we can see Christ in others.
