Each of the four Passion Narratives presents a different portrait of Jesus and a different explanation for his death. On Palm Sunday this year we hear the Lukan account, which emphasizes Jesus as faithful prophet who brought good news to the people most in need, but was rejected by those whose power, privilege, and status he threatened. On Good Friday, the Johannine account gives us powerful images of how death and new life are juxtaposed as believers are born anew. Participants are encouraged to bring their Bibles and to read ahead of time Luke 22-24 and John 18-21.
