Our brains are wired for survival. When you first meet a person, your brain almost instantly judges them to determine if they are a threat. Are they a friend or foe, a part of your group or an outsider? This fast-paced session will help you better understand the subtle inner workings of our brains and behaviors that influence how we perceive and interact with others— and how they perceive and interact with others. We’ll cover how our mind works, how groups work, and how understanding the neuroscience and social science behind polarization can help each of us become more resilient to toxic forms of division.
Kevin McIntosh is the Michigan Regional Outreach Manager for One America Movement, whose mission is to build a united American society by eliminating toxic polarization. Kevin earned his B.A. in Religious Studies and History from Emory University and his Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School. Prior to joining the One America Movement, Kevin served as the coordinator of Campus Interfaith Resources at Grand Valley State University.
Proceeds in part will benefit The One America Movement.
